On the back of a milestone win and a strong finish to season 2025/26, a red-hot Brodie Loy has rocketed to equal second on the Australia-wide jockey’s premiership following trebles at Wodonga and Albury.
At Wodonga on Monday, Loy had only four rides but prevailed on three of them.
Teaming up with Albury trainer Ron Stubbs, he won on Clinch The Deal ($4.60) in the 2050m Maiden Plate, before combining with Wangaratta’s Ben Brisbourne to claim the 2050m Benchmark 56 Handicap aboard Lightning Flash($8).
Rounding out his winning treble, the impressive Blow On The Dice ($3) was clinical, putting 2.5 lengths on rivals in the 1400m Benchmark 56 Handicap for local trainer Geoff Connell.
Backing up at Albury the following day, Loy again landed a treble.
Early on the seven-race card, Loy won on the Gary Colvin-trained Ikon Park ($1.80) as the Wagga galloper got the job done in the 1175m Maiden Plate.
Riding for Goulburn-based conditioner Anthony Warren, the pair then combined to win with Flying Corsair ($7.50), who scored comfortably in the 900m Maiden Handicap.
The treble was brought up with Risky Whisky ($1.95), who could be one to follow for Flemington trainers Michael and Luke Cerchi.
The four-year-old Siyouni gelding has won three on the trot and, taking on a handy field in the 1000m Benchmark 66 Handicap, thrived in the heavy conditions at Albury.
Back-to-back trebles is no mean feat, and Loy’s efforts capped off what has been a massive month in the saddle.
Loy brought up the 600th win of his career late last season when riding a winning treble at Goulburn on July 17.
He booted home the Matthew Dale-trained King Of Dragons ($3.40) to win the 1400m Class One Handicap before career win 600 arrived on the Luke Pepper-trained Extrio ($3.10) in the 1100m Class Three Handicap.
Rounding out a huge day, Loy and Pepper combined again in the 1200m Benchmark 58 Handicap, winning on The Eyes Have It ($3).
With his tail up and only trailing early leader Ben Thompson (who’s 14 wins) on the Australian Jockey’s Premiership, Loy will look to add to his tally during a busy back end of the week that will see him cover some kilometres.
He travels to Hawkesbury today before meetings at Canberra on Friday, Berrigan on Saturday, and Goulburn on Sunday.
