Aaron Bullock’s purple patch continued as the popular jockey moved past 1200 career wins at Gunnedah on Monday, riding another four victories.

It was the Bullock and Mack Griffith show for the most part, with the pair combining for a treble in the state’s North West.

Grande Diablo ($2.10) kicked off the winning run, saluting by 1.2 lengths in the 2150m Class One/Maiden Plate, before Zubba Storm ($1.30) justified the very short quote, winning by a length in the 1000m Class Two Handicap.

Griffith and Bullock’s treble was completed when Nielsen Park ($1.60) got home in the nick of time to greet the judge first in the 1250m Maiden Handicap.

Among those winners, Bullock also teamed up with former mentor Todd Howlett, winning the 1400m Country Boosted Maiden Plate on Ordinary Angel ($1.80).

A Jockey In Red-Hot Form

The Newcastle-based hoop has ridden 17 victories from his past 44 rides; a stunning strike rate that underlines just how well he is currently travelling.

That rich vein of form includes a quartet of victories at Scone on July 10 before Bullock starred over the Grafton July carnival, where he rode six winners across the July 12, 15, and 16 meetings – including a treble on Ramornie Handicap Day.

Headlining what was a huge day in the saddle, Bullock helped the Kris Lees-trained Rustemo ($1.75) to an eye-catching five-length win in the $80,000 Grafton Guineas (1600m).

On Grafton Cup Day, Bullock teamed up with trainer Jenny Graham, who produced exciting youngster Royal Exile ($1.50) in the 2YO Springboard To Fame, and the pair cruised to the easiest of victories.

A Decade of Dominance

With the current season nearing its conclusion, Bullock’s 2025/26 tally of 119 wins has him sitting second overall, trailing only Pierre Boudvillain (135) – a position that is a continuation of a remarkable run stretching back nearly a decade.

Bullock has been riding at the highest of levels since the beginning of 2022, recording 662 wins from just over five and a half years of riding at an incredible strike rate of 25.48%.

While an ongoing battle with his weight has sidelined him at times, Bullock has been a picture of consistency since riding his first century of winners (107) back in 2017/18.

Since that breakout season, the popular hoop has booted home a century or more in six of his past eight seasons, and was Australia’s leading jockey in 2022/23 with an extraordinary 208 victories from 798 attempts.

More To Come At Taree

His current season’s tally could well improve today, with Bullock boasting a strong book of six rides at Taree – giving punters and racing fans alike plenty to look forward to.
