Mark Currie appears to hold the two aces leading into Thursday’s 1350m Open Handicap at Picklebet Park Warwick.

A small field of seven will do battle, and the Currie-trained Drang A Tang (Justin Huxtable, $2) is the early favourite from stablemate Silver City (Jackson Murphy, $5).
Drang A Tang is a six-time winner, with the 5YO Heroic Valour gelding winning the 1350m Benchmark 70 Handicap at Warwick on August 31.
Racing in good form this preparation, the Toowoomba galloper won back-to-back races on his home track in July, with Kelsey Lenton riding him to victory in the 1200m Class Three Handicap on July 4 before triumphing in a 1200m Benchmark 70 Handicap on July 12.

Jaden Lloyd was in the saddle when Drang A Tang won at Warwick, with the pair travelling midfield before bursting through for the win.

While Drang A Tang is the clear top pick, Silver City could be a danger, with the stablemate resuming for a nice third for Shania Willis in the 1200m Benchmark 65 Handicap at Toowoomba on August 23.

There has been some support for Lavoni ($7 into $5.50), with the Ipswich visitor prepared by Jesse Townsend.

Les Tilley is in the saddle, and with the 5YO Encryption mare not too far away in recent runs at Ipswich and Eagle Farm, and getting in with 54kg from gate 4, some punters think class might prevail at Warwick.

It’s a good program at Warwick, with the first race jumping at 1.07pm.
