Apprentice jockey Eliza Lloyd will be chasing her first win at Moe on Thursday, teaming up with Julius Sandhu on two chances.

Indentured to Luke Oliver in Cranbourne, the 24-year-old had her first two rides at Sale on Thursday, June 12, finishing down the track on two outsiders for the Sandhu stable.

At Moe, Lloyd will be legged aboard a genuine winning chance in Bold Response, which takes on the 1200m Benchmark 58 Handicap.

Well down in grade on recent runs, the five-time winner will carry 59kg after Lloyd’s 4kg claim, and despite drawing the carpark (gate 17), there has been good support ($6 into $3.30) for the 5YO son of Zoustar.

A good front-running type, Bold Response finished third in the 1200m Benchmark 70 Handicap at Moonee Valley on April 26 before backing that effort up with a handy second in the 1200m Benchmark 64 Handicap at Cranbourne on May 16.

Last time out in a strong 1200m Benchmark 64 Handicap at Mornington on June 9, the Cranbourne galloper had to work hard for the lead and finished fifth, beaten five lengths.

Tomorrow, there doesn’t appear to be as much speed on paper, which should bode well for Bold Response

In race seven, Lloyd then jumps aboard Strapparsi in the 1000m Benchmark 58 Handicap.

A three-time winner and recent Pakenham placegetter, the 5YO Deep Field mare is a 23/1 chance.

A bumper ten-race program at Moe jumps at 12pm.
