Fresh off a spell, the Luke Pepper-trained Fine Vintage will take on Sunday’s Wagga Winter Sprint (1000m) at the Murrumbidgee Turf Club.

A six-time winner and accomplished in open grade, the Supido gelding also boasts a good first-up record (6:2-0-0).

Resuming at Albury in November, the 5YO took on The Twilight Open Handicap (1175m) and was an impressive three-length winner.

During a good preparation, the Canberra-trained galloper won the $50,000 Moruya Town Plate (1200m) in January and finished second to the Scott Collings-trained Ticklebelly in the $50,000 Bega Sprint (1200m) in February.

First-up from an 17-week spell, Fine Vintage resumes at Wagga and draws wide (gate 9) in the feature race but benefits from Jack Baker’s two-kilogram claim, meaning he will carry 60.5kg.

It’s a good sprint race, with Fine Vintage coming up against the likes of Rocket Tiger, Condor, Mr Moppet, and Big Day Out, among other handy bush sprinters.

Wagga hosts a seven-race card, with the first race to jump at 12.40pm.
