Bendemeer trainer Jane Clement appears to have a few nice chances at Armidale on Sunday, led by recent placegetter Toulon Factor.
The 8YO is racing as well as ever. Following a short freshen-up, Toulon Factor took on the Benchmark 66 Handicap (1400m) and hung on well for second.
Before that effort, the old stager had finished second in the Deepwater Cup (1400m) in January.
At Armidale, it’s a drop back in distance and class for the $7.50 chance when taking on the Benchmark 58 Handicap (1100m), and connections draw nicely with gate four.
Gabrielle Johnston is aboard for the three-kilogram claim, meaning Toulon Factor will carry 60kg.
A race later, recent Coonamble winner The Great Armada will represent the Clement stable in the Benchmark 58 Handicap (1300m).
Drawn favourably with gate two, Shannen Llewellyn is on board for the 1.5kg claim, meaning the 5YO will carry 59.5kg.
Two starts back, the Merchant Navy gelding won a Benchmark 58 Handicap (1400m) at Coonamble on March 16 before backing up and running a decent third in the Benchmark 58 Handicap (1280m) at Muswellbrook on March 28.
On recent form, The Great Armada appears decent value at the Armidale meeting.
At the time of publishing, the Armidale meeting is a seven-race program set to be run on a heavy (10) surface.
The rail is in the true position, and the first race jumps at 12.55 pm.
