Lismore double continues Ethan Ensby’s hot run

A recent move back to Casino Racing Club is paying dividends for Ethan Ensby Racing

Since moving to the upgraded Casino Racing Club stables in mid-September, Ensby and his team have landed four winners, including three just last week.

Vendemmia ($3.20) kicked off the stable’s good start to the season, with Ben Looker in the saddle as the pair won the 1435m Maiden Plate at Grafton on August 30.

Then securing another storming victory, Looker was again at the helm as Gold Puma ($3.50) went back-to-back to win the 1410m Class One Handicap at Grafton on September 22.

Dark Chill ($4.80) then ended a run of close finishes for the stable, prevailing in the 1550m Class Two Handicap at Murwillumbah on Tuesday.

Jasper Franklin took the ride, and the 6YO Dawn Approach gelding scored his third win at start 20, bringing his career earnings to over $100,000.

Five days later, Ensby took three runners to Lismore, and Gold Puma ($3.50) broke through at start number 8 in the 1410m Maiden Plate.

Noriyuki Masuda was in the saddle as the pair finished strongly to win by a length.

Gold Puma has now started eight times for a win, four placings, and over 37k in prizemoney.

The following race at Lismore was the 1210m Maiden Handicap, and Whiskey Miss ($12) upstaged her more fancied rivals when triumphing by the best part of two lengths.

It was a masterful ride by Ben Looker as the 4YO Pierro mare showcased her ability, breaking through at start number five.

Ensby will be hoping his stable’s good run continues at Royal Randwick and Doomben on Saturday.

Dark Chill has been entered in the $120,000 Class Three Highway Handicap (1600m) in Sydney, while Maximum Vortex, who missed out last week following the abandonment of the final three races at Eagle Farm, has been entered in the $85,000 Open Handicap (1200m) in Brisbane.
