Three wins in three days has talented apprentice jockey Sarah Field enjoying a rich vein of form.
Riding at Warrnambool on Friday, Field teamed up with William Morrissey when helping Lord Porchester ($17) to a decisive two-length victory in the 1300m Benchmark 56 Handicap.
Racing in the back half of the field in the early stages of the event, Field launched a wide, sweeping run on the Ballarat galloper as they cruised to an impressive win.
On Saturday, the 27-year-old was in action at Gunbower, riding for Kyneton trainer Charles Cassar when guiding Zamora ($4.80) to a 0.75 length win in the 1100m Maiden Plate.
It was a strong front-running ride by Field on the 4YO Deep Field gelding, which broke through at start six.
Rounding out a successful three days in the saddle, Field teamed up with the in-form Craig Widdison yard at Bendigo on Sunday, winning on Sister Shay ($15) in the 1500m Benchmark 66 Handicap.
Another bold front-running ride, the pair spaced the field early, with the Wodonga galloper then holding on for an easy three-length win.
“I love leading,” Field said following Sister Shay’s victory.
“I’m pretty good at pace; it was just something that I had drilled into me for a long time, and this horse is so easy and so tough.
“I really just let her flow and do her own thing into the first bend. She is so beautiful, and she came back, and I got a little breather around the bend, and I just let her do her thing today with the lightweight and claim, and she is just so tough.”
Boasting five wins in season 2025/26 and 54 wins overall, an in-form Field has already experienced the highs and lows of racing.
A dream debut followed a long-awaited start to her apprenticeship in July 2023, when riding Field Of Flutes to victory at Donald.
A broken leg then left the apprentice sidelined, but Field returned, booting home 35 winners last season.
At the same time, Field featured in the 2024/25 RMBL Investments Rising Stars Series, finishing equal second to eventual winner, Tom Prebble.
With recent winners behind her, Field is motivated and riding well, and more importantly, in a great physical and mental state.
“(I’ve made) a few little changes and I’m just in a really good headspace,” Field said.
“I had a holiday as well, and it took a little bit coming back from it, but I’ve had a few winners now, and I feel great, and I’m riding really good.
“I’m really grateful for the support I’m getting; it’s a lot for the owners and trainers to trust me, especially at these places, where I claim three kilos, and there are a lot of good jockeys here.”
